Anniversaries, Birthdays and Milestones
Anniversaries, birthdays, and life’s many other milestones, remind us of our loved ones. While we cherish the laughter and joy around past celebrations, there’s often a bit of melancholy in the memories.
March 6, 1954
Today marks my parents’ wedding anniversary. If alive, they would be celebrating 65 years of marriage! Growing up, my family cherished birthdays and anniversaries, and never missed a reason to enjoy a special meal together. As I was going through my parents’ possessions before their house was sold, I was surprised to find that my mother had saved the decoration that had adorned the top of their wedding cake.
In the basement, on top of an old dusty shelf was a little bride and groom wrapped in old tissue paper and yellowed with age. Around the couple was a very tarnished wedding arch and silver bell.
I carefully unwrapped the 1954 couple and realized how intact the pieces had remained after all the years. It was a bit of a time capsule of wedding styles from the 1950s!
Spirit Lives On
The spirit of the decoration and the love it represents lives on. Just like the spirit and love of our deceased loved ones. While time is an illusion on the other side of the veil, I believe without a doubt, that the happy couple that married on March 6, 1954, continues to celebrate the love they shared together on Earth.
As you remember the anniversaries, the birthdays, and the celebrations of love that are part of your past, I hope you’ll realize that your loved ones remember too. As you recall the fond memories, your heart opens and welcomes their Spirit near. Love can never die.
